I can't recommend Christiane highly enough. I took one on one lessons with her on my visit to Rio this past winter. She quickly honed in on my level of Portuguese and tailored her lessons to me. Musescore is a terrific free software that allows you to make electronic versions of all those great beats you've been coming up with and jotting down in notebooks and random bits of paper. They have an easy to follow beginner tutorial and end product looks really nice. Once you have an electronic copy you can easily share it with your band mates!
