Bio:
Henrique Araújo currently represents an important reference for cavaquinho and mandolin in the Brazilian music scene. He completed the mandolin and cavaquinho courses at ULM-SP in 2008, studied composition and conducting at FAAM College in 2013 and has participated in several concerts, and recordings alongside popular master artists such as Dominguinhos, Yamandú Costa, Elza Soares, Wilson das Neves, Zeca Pagodinho, Gilberto Gil, Mestrinho and the conductors Laércio de Freitas and Roberto Sion. Henrique has participated in projects and music festivals in Brazil and abroad, among them; Brahma Festival Moscow, Brazilian Concertgerbouw Festival Amsterdam, New Voices in Bogota, Year of Brazil in Portugal, Berklee Percusion Festival, XI Choro Festival in Paris, Brotfabrik-Frankfourt Festival, Vienne Jazz Festival, performing as an instrumentalist and giving workshops. In 2017, he released O Choro do Sertão, his first solo album, entirely dedicated to the instrumental compositions of Dominguinhos. Currently, he is the musical director and conductor of Cordão Carnavalesco, a teacher at the Escola do Auditório do Ibiraquera and the Choro School of São Paulo, and is part of the Panorama do Choro Paulistano Contemporâneo e Batuqueiros e sua Gente, besides accompanying the singer Fabiana Cozza and the composer Douglas Germano. This past year he was a faculty member at California Brazil Camp and performed at the International Samba Congress-Europe in Munich.
